My husband could be the president of the Magic Shell Fan Club. He’s a huge ice cream lover, but Magic Shell is what makes his experience that much better. It seems silly though to go through the effort of making home made ice cream with grass fed milk and cream only to top it with the processed oil and soy found in purchased topping. Fortunately, making home made Magic Shell is super easy and uses ingredients we usually have on hand.
ingredients
- 3/4 cup coconut oil
- 1/3 cup cocoa
- 2 tbsp + 1 tsp maple syrup
instructions
In the summer, you really can just whisk all these ingredients together and you’re good to go. If it’s colder in your kitchen and your coconut oil is solid, heat the coconut oil on the lowest temperature and then stir your other ingredients in.
Let it cool back to room temp and then use.
Store in a jar in the fridge and when you’re ready to use it, run some warm water over the jar to bring it back to liquid (or just put it outside for a few minutes). Coconut oil melts at around 76 degrees, so it doesn’t take much to liquify it!
