Why Do I Emphasize the Peace Pillar so Much? Part 2:
Here is the short answer: because I believe we were designed in God’s image, not a random accident evolving over millions of years from nothing to pond scum to monkeys to us. We were designed to function at a high level and be healthy like our ancestors were. They didn’t have the diseases of the modern world, so we should be able to avoid them also.
The “DI” (Divine Intelligence) that created us is so incredibly superior to the “AI” (artificial intelligence) that the world is becoming so obsessed with. Yet we have been deceived and not taught the truth regarding this “DI”. The truth will make you free. Jesus came to give life and life more abundant. The adversary of The Truth came to deceive and kill, steal and destroy. Sickness and disease fall into the steal, kill and destroy category. It is not from God, and it is not God’s will that you’re sick. Your disease is not the result of a poor design, nor is it just because we are not highly evolved enough.
It is my desire to see people truly well, not needing a doctor, just living their life, walking around the earth being who God made them to be, letting God’s character and nature, which is love, shine through them into their sphere of influence as they go about their day to day business, not having the distraction of or even a single thought about physical symptoms or disease….or health insurance, Medicare sustainability, the failing healthcare system, etc, etc, etc. We were designed to be well and not need a doctor!
However, this true health that I believe is God’s will, is not possible in my opinion when we are under the influence of the stress hormone cortisol, which is over-produced when you are not living in a state of true peace.
A False Sense of Security
Furthermore, I’d have a hard time sleeping at night and living with myself if I didn’t shine the light of truth fully. Without the full truth, patients could be walking around with a false sense of security, still vulnerable to sickness and disease.
The cholesterol lowering drugs called statins (a trillion dollar industry by the way) only reduce cardiovascular death rates by 0.8% (JAMA, March 2022 as well as many other studies). Conventional doctors promote this drug like it is some major life saving miracle that everyone should be on or even should be put into the drinking water, all for a less than 1% benefit! Talk about a false sense of security! The patient thinks they are protected from heart attacks when in reality, they are still vulnerable to dying from a heart attack because the true root causes were not addressed.
I don’t want you to be walking around still vulnerable, thinking you’ve addressed everything through diet, exercise, hydration, and supplementation.
I feel morally and ethically obligated to speak the truth in love and not hold back anything that could benefit my patients. I don’t want to be the one promoting a false sense of security that my patients have done all they can to do to address current symptoms or prevent future symptoms. I don’t want the cortisol effect from chronic stress to be left unaddressed, be a blind spot for you, and leave you with a false sense of security, still vulnerable to sickness and disease.
Excellent Nutrition, Hydration, and Movement Cannot Overcome Chronic Cortisol Effects
I don’t believe true health is possible long-term just by eating, drinking and moving well. As I laid out in last month’s article, chronic stress causes the stress hormone cortisol to be over-produced, which in turn wrecks the metabolism, disturbs the circadian cycle, blocks thyroid hormone, induces insulin resistance, damages neurons leading to brain fog and forgetfulness, elevates blood sugar, encourages weight gain, depletes your magnesium stores shutting down 3,000+ enzymes, triggers a breakdown of muscle, robs from your other hormones like testosterone and progesterone, and causes mitochondrial dysfunction…just to name a few of the negative effects of chronic stress.
So, in order to walk in long-term health, one must be at peace, maintaining appropriate levels of cortisol. If you are one of the “non-responders” I described last week, still symptomatic despite working really hard on the foundational pillars of nutrition, hydration, and movement, then I would submit to you to consider examining the peace pillar a little closer.
Just like people seeing a conventional medical doctor who don’t get better with the pharmaceutical to treat symptoms approach, seek out our advice because they want to “deal with root causes and not just masks things with drugs”, people seeking out alternative or a more holistic approach to their health can also fall victim to the same thing, using supplements and IV’s to treat symptoms or focusing only on diet and exercise, sunshine and hydration, blocking EMF’s, getting good chiropractic care, etc. True, long-term health can only be achieved if the body is in a state of peace, that is God’s design.
Not Either/Or
I want to be clear, I am not suggesting you ignore or not steward the other 3 pillars. I do believe we should try our best to consume God food not man food, drink quality water, and avoid an indoor, sedentary life. I have witnessed many, many people overcome many health issues by just addressing the nutrition pillar alone. But, I have also seen some of these same people come back in 3 or 4 years with either a reoccurrence of their symptoms and disease or different but equally bothersome symptoms……even when they are still eating and hydrating and moving pretty well.
Usually, with “non-responders” or someone who initially improved but then returns later with a reoccurrence of symptoms, stress will be the culprit. The effects of the fight or flight hormone cortisol can negate the beneficial effects of nutrition, hydration, and movement, putting a ceiling on the level of healing one may experience.
So, just trying to double down on the 3 pillars or looking for another supplement or protocol is not the best way to go in my opinion. At some point, we must address the cortisol effect, and if we don’t, then both the patient and the doctor can get frustrated, spending more time, money, emotion, and effort chasing something that perhaps the body could resolve on its own if it were not under the influence of excess cortisol.
But What About….
But what if we are missing something in the physical realm that is actually causing inflammation and being interpreted as stress by the body? Maybe there is some hidden black mold in your duct work. Maybe there was a tick bite that you didn’t notice, and that tick injected some bacteria that causes Lyme disease. Maybe the burden of the invisible EMF’s at work and home and from the new cell tower that just went up in your neighborhood are causing your symptoms.
There is always the possibility that a germ or a toxin is negatively impacting your physical health. There is always another test to run or thing to look for that may be the “missing piece of the puzzle.” There is a time and place to consider those for sure. I’m not suggesting you ignore these possibilities or that you purposefully try to expose yourself to excess toxicities or germs. But what I am saying is that EVEN IF any of the above-mentioned scenarios are true in your life and causing or contributing to your symptoms, your body will be better able to clear those germs or detox and deal with those toxins if chronic cortisol effects are not present.
Remember, every mold, Lyme, and emf protocol and expert have their “non-responders”, and this is typically due to a chronic state of stress causing excess cortisol production. So, why not just re-prioritize and put the focus on the peace pillar first, build the body’s resiliency up, support the God-given healing mechanisms, unleash and un-handcuff the best anti-mold, anti-Lyme, anti-emf, anti-cancer, anti-covid system in the world, and then sit back and see what the body can do on its own to heal without the negative effects of cortisol hampering the healing mechanisms in the body? You can always add the mold or Lyme or emf protocols later, but you’ll be amazed at what your body can handle and heal all by itself if it is given the chance to without the cortisol effects.
The goal really is to steward all 4 pillars in order to build resiliency in the body and support its God-given design to kill germs, detox toxins and extinguish the flames of inflammation all by itself without a whole lot of external inputs. I believe the amount of time, energy, effort, emotion and money spent on implementing various external inputs to try and help the body out is inversely proportional to the amount of stewardship of the 4 pillars, and the peace pillar in particular.
What It’s Not
Before I get into “the how” of bringing stress and cortisol down, I want to explain what I am NOT talking about….
I am not talking about “stress relief” techniques. Just implementing some sort of stress relief technique that has a temporary effect of lowering cortisol hormone is ok, BUT it is not going to really fix the problem because as soon as you step back into your office or home from your 5 minute stroll to do some deep breathing exercises and pray, you are right back in your stressful environment, the cortisol just starts rising again.
I am also not talking about trying to control or fix all your stressful circumstances. Striving with all your might and strength and ingenuity to try and control or manipulate all your circumstances will not work long-term. I do believe it is appropriate and healthy to try and bring some order to chaos in your life, saying “no” to the things you’re not supposed to be doing, re-prioritize some activities, cut down on excessive busyness, etc, but there is a fine line between bringing order and trying to forcefully control all your circumstances in an attempt to avoid all stressors. There is no way to control all our circumstances, especially in this day and age where disorder and chaos is purposely being unleashed on humanity on a very larger scale.
Ok, so I hope that I’ve explained the “why” behind the importance of stewarding the peace pillar. Now it’s time to move into the how, but that will have to wait for Part 3 because I’ve hit my word limit on this article! So, stay tuned….but here is just a little preview:
The cortisol switch is controlled by the body’s autopilot system. The autopilot system is controlled by your heart, it is NOT under your voluntary control. You cannot just tell your autopilot system, “be at peace and stop making cortisol”. And I’m not talking about your physical muscle in your chest pumping blood. I’m talking about your thoughts and beliefs. In part 3, we’ll take a deeper dive into this.
